What’s Your Rich Life Really Made Of?

Next time you silently judge a family for paying someone to cut their grass or tidy up their house once a month, pause for a moment. I bet that mom isn’t being “lazy” or “spoiled.” She’s simply buying back her time, time that she can spend where it matters most.

Instead of me spending an entire Saturday cutting, weed whacking, and dragging myself inside exhausted after making the yard presentable, I pay someone $50 to get it all done in 20 minutes. That small choice changes everything about our weekend.

While the grass is being cut, I get to:

  • Lounge on the couch with my kids, laughing through Saturday morning cartoons.

  • Take a slow walk through the farmers market, grabbing coffee and donuts.

  • Get lost in a corn maze together, hearing the giggles and shouts of “this way!”

  • Meet up with friends at the park, soaking in sunshine instead of exhaustion.

By letting go of the “badge of honor” that comes with doing all the work myself, I gain an entire day with my family. I’m not too tired to play. I’m not too drained to say yes. Instead, I’ve traded in sweaty yard work for a full day of memories.

So instead of placing judgment, consider this: maybe that mom is prioritizing her family over the “hard work” of doing everything on her own. Because sometimes, hard work looks like letting go and choosing joy.

And the best part? I spent my Saturday hanging out with my kids and family all day long. That’s my version of a rich life.

So tell me, what’s your rich life look like?

P.S. Next on my list? A cleaning lady. Where you at?!
