Work-Life Balance
For a long time, almost all of my stress came from one thing: work. It felt like no matter how early I woke up or how late I stayed up, there was always something waiting for me. I’d walk my kids to the bus in the morning and feel this pit in my stomach because I knew what came next - time to log on and do something I no longer felt aligned with.
But even in that tension, I could still find gratitude. That job gave me the gift of flexibility. It allowed me to be there for morning drop-offs, volunteer, chaperone field trips, and to be at every after-school activity. It helped me raise my kids - and for that, I’ll always be thankful.
Still, deep inside, I knew I was meant for more. I couldn’t picture myself waiting until retirement to start living how I wanted to. I want to retire myself. And that’s where Healing House was born.
My Why: Creating a Life I Love
Healing House isn’t just a business - it’s my heart’s work. It’s conversations that light me up. It’s helping people heal and grow. It’s connecting deeply about things that truly matter. This is the work I want to do. It’s the space I want to live in. I’ve come too far in the dreaming, planning, and building of this vision. I’ve created meaning behind every part of Healing House - and I will see it come to life. I will touch it. I will live it.
Finding Balance Along the Way
Right now, I’m still balancing both worlds - and that’s okay. The difference is, I do it on my terms now. I log on and log off when I’m supposed to. I don’t let work take over my mornings and nights anymore. I take days off when my kids are home so we can make memories together. I make an intention to take lunch away from my computer and go for a walk. I hire a babysitter and go shopping alone without guilt. And if I spend a Saturday morning working on Healing House, I remind myself that I’m feeding the dream I’m building.
The Reminder I Keep Close
Work-life balance isn’t about doing it all. It’s about creating space for what matters most. It’s about letting your current 9–5 pay for your dream while you build it. It’s about honoring where you are while staying committed to where you’re going.
So if you’re walking a similar path - building something meaningful while showing up for the responsibilities you have now - remember this: your side hustle deserves your energy. Your dream deserves your time. And you deserve a life that feels like more than just surviving.
Keep going. Feed the vision. And trust that one day, this life you’re creating won’t be a dream anymore - it’ll be the reality you wake up to.
Enjoy your ride. Your future self will thank you.
