Find Your Rich Life: A Gentle Reminder for the Busy Parent

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to live a rich life. Not in terms of a big house or a fancy car - but in the small, quiet moments that make life feel full. For me, my rich life means having the ability to work from home. It means flexibility. The gift of taking my kids to school in the morning. Being there when they walk in the door with stories from their day.

But let’s be honest - working from home isn’t always serene. It’s messy. The dishes are staring at me while I make lunch. The laundry is piled high in the hallway. I step on kinetic sand from two days ago and wonder, Will I ever get ahead of it all?

I’m learning that I can’t do everything all at once. And that’s okay.
To live my version of a rich life, I need to get a handle on the chaos, especially the kind that comes from my ADHD brain trying to do 14 things at once.

So here’s what I’m practicing:

  • Breathe.

  • Focus on what you’re doing right now.

If I’m making lunch, I don’t need to be doing the dishes at the same time. I don’t need to be vacuuming. I need to be present. Enjoy making the sandwich. Sit down and actually eat lunch - whether it’s alone or with my kids. Let that moment matter.

The dishes can wait. They’ll still be there when the kids are playing Switch and no one needs me. And when I do them then, it feels less like a chore and more like a mindful act of care.

Living your rich life doesn’t mean achieving perfection.
It means being more intentional with your time. One task, one moment at a time.

Right now, as I write this, my kids are fed and relaxing in front of the TV. This is a pocket of time I can use to reflect, to write, to share. And in this moment, I feel rich.

So ask yourself:
What does your rich life look like?
How can you move through your day with more presence?

Remember, everything will get done. But your peace of mind is part of the richness too. So be gentle with yourself. Be present. And go live your version of a rich life.
