Building Bravery in Shy or Anxious Kids
If your child hides behind you in new situations, avoids speaking up, or hesitates to try something new - they aren’t being difficult.
They’re being brave in their own way.
But bravery isn’t something we’re born with, it’s something we build.
And as moms, we get to be their guide through it.
The Blocked Chakra Behind Shyness: Solar Plexus
The Solar Plexus Chakra is the center of personal power and confidence. When it’s balanced, your child feels empowered to speak up, try something new, and trust themselves.
But when it’s blocked, it can show up as:
Constant self-doubt
Tummy aches before new activities
Withdrawing in group settings
Fear of failure or embarrassment
These are often signs your child isn’t just shy, they’re feeling unsafe in their own power.
How You Can Help Them Unblock It
You don’t have to force bravery. You just have to nurture it.
Here’s how to begin:
1. Weekly Bravery Challenge:
Create one small challenge a week with your child. Let them help pick it!
Say hello to someone new
Raise your hand in class
Try a new food
Ride your bike to the end of the street alone
After each one, talk about how it felt. Celebrate the trying, not the outcome.
2. Use the Healing House Brave Worksheet:
Help them name their fears, draw their “brave self,” and track the brave things they do each day.
3. Play the Confidence Subliminal at Night:
Healing House’s Confidence & Self-Esteem Subliminal gently reprograms the subconscious while they sleep with empowering affirmations.
4. Support Their Solar Plexus Chakra:
Let them wear yellow or carry a yellow stone (like citrine)
Encourage movement like dancing or light exercise
Repeat this affirmation with them:
“I am strong. I believe in myself. I try, even when I’m scared.”
A Reflection Prompt for Moms:
Our kids learn by watching.
In moments when bravery is needed, whether it’s making a call, speaking up, or trying something new, what are we showing them?
Ask yourself:
What does my child see when I need to be brave?
Let them witness you doing the hard things. Not perfectly but with presence.
Bravery isn’t loud. It’s not always bold. Sometimes it looks like a shaky voice, a deep breath, or just one step forward.
Your child is braver than they know. And with your calm guidance, they’ll grow into their power one small act of courage at a time.
